As part of Chicago's LGBT Anti-Violence Task Force: the UCenter for Health mission is to work to reduce violence against Same Gender Loving, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (SGL-LGBT) individuals (and those perceived as LGBT) of African descent through community outreach, education, and monitoring cases to ensure that the rights and dignity of LGBT victims are respected and protected. GLOV also seeks to assist victims of anti-LGBT violence by advocating on their behalf, encouraging reporting, and providing a community of support.

Tobacco Working Group.

UCenter for Health wants to address tobacco use in our community. Ubuntu Tobacco Working Group works to raise awareness about how smoking impacts the SGL-LGBT community of African descent and people living with HIV/AIDS in Chicago; and provide support for individuals who are ready to quit smoking.

HIV Working Group.

The UCenter for Health HIV working group is a volunteer driven HIV/AIDS outreach, education, and advocacy initiative. We are dedicated to limiting the negative impact of HIV/AIDS in the SGL-LGBT community of African descent.
